Can I still attend a clinic if I am under 16?
Yes, you can!
Even if you are under 16 you are still entitled to confidentiality. This means that you can attend the clinic and we won’t pass on details about your visit to parents, carers, teachers or other professionals. We would only need to break this promise if we were concerned about your risk of harm or harm to others.
We will ask you some questions to make sure you are safe. Importantly, we will not judge you. Testing for sexually transmitted infections is really easy and often you can do the tests yourself.
If you are under 13, we may have to take extra steps to make sure you’re safe. This might mean talking to other services if we think you might be at risk of harm.
How to get tested
Our home testing service isn’t available to under 16s but we can offer a choice of walk in or booked appointments.
We have three different clinic locations spread out across the city.
You can go to the Young Persons walk in clinic on Wednesday afternoon (1.30pm to 6pm) at SHAC Central. You can also attend walk in appointments at SHAC Central on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 10.15am and 5pm .
To book an appointment at SHAC West (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons, 3pm to 5.30pm) text 07909453505 and a member of staff will reply as soon as possible to tell you what day and time to attend. We also offer walk in appointments at this location.
