Clinic T is a service specifically for people who identify as trans, non binary or gender questioning. It is a safe, trans affirming space for people to access support for their sexual health.

Where is this clinic? 

Clinic T is based at SHAC East. Enter through the lower ground floor on Abbey road.  

When is Clinic T available?  

Clinic T is open on the second Wednesday of every month.

How do I book an appointment at Clinic T?

To request an appointment please call 01273 523 388 (Option 1). 

Phone lines are closed on Bank Holidays.

Monday: 9.15am to 4.30pm

Tuesday: 9.15am to 4.30pm

Wednesday: 12.30pm to 4.30pm

Thursday: 9.15am to 4.30pm

Friday: 9.15am to 4.30pm

Other frequently asked questions (FAQS) about Clinic T 

Clinic T is not able to recommend or provide hormonal treatments for gender affirmation or provide monitoring blood tests. For advice around hormone therapy you can speak to your GP or gender identity clinic if you are under the care of one. WellBN trans health hub has lots of useful information on hormone treatments and, for people living in East and West Sussex, offers an outreach pathway which can support you to access gender affirming treatment through your own GP. 

You will be greeted by a receptionist or support worker who will check the reason you have come to clinic. Depending on the service you require you will see a clinician who may offer sexual health screening, cervical screening, contraception or support and signposting. Examination will only be done if necessary, and only with your consent. We will discuss with you any words you prefer to use for your anatomy, and any concerns you may have around being examined or having a sexual health screen. 

You may bring someone to support you to your appointment, but we will usually see you alone first, so you have the opportunity to talk about anything confidential. Your supporter is welcome to be present for any procedures. You can also ask for a trained chaperone to be present at any point. For some procedures we may have an additional member of staff to assist, but we will still try to accommodate your friend or partner in the room. 

We are a teaching hospital and there will often be students on placement in the clinic. If you would prefer not to be seen with a student, please let reception staff know when you attend.
